First reactions to Drishyam 3 have flooded social media, with fans praising its gripping narrative and celebrating the return of Georgekutty. Mohanlal returned as the iconic character in the much-awaited third instalment of the blockbuster thriller franchise, which released in theatres on May 21 coinciding with the superstar’s birthday.
Soon after the first shows began, audiences started sharing their reactions online, especially praising the film’s first half, emotional moments, and Mohanlal’s screen presence.
Fans on X described the interval sequence as “absolute cinema”, while many also called the actor’s entry scene a major “whistle podu” moment in theatres.
One user wrote, “#Drishyam3 very good first half. Interval block too good. #Mohanlal as usual very very good. Interval block creates great curiosity for the second half. 2nd half has been great for Drishyam and Drishyam2 so high hopes for the 2nd half. Looks like a blockbuster loading (sic).”
Another viewer praised the film for balancing emotion and suspense effectively in the opening half, while also appreciating Mohanlal’s performance as Georgekutty. Several viewers noted that the film retains the intense atmosphere and storytelling style that made the earlier instalments so successful among audiences.
At the same time, a few mixed reactions also surfaced online, with some viewers feeling that the pacing was slightly slower compared to the previous films. One X user wrote, “This is superb, but Drishyam 3 is a bit slow,” offering a balanced early response after watching the film.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 continues the story of Georgekutty and his family following the events of Drishyam 2. Over the years, the franchise has emerged as one of the most successful thriller series in Indian cinema, beginning with the release of the first film in 2013 and followed by the sequel in 2021.
The Malayalam original received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike, later inspiring remakes in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, has since become one of the most iconic characters in Indian thriller cinema.
Apart from Mohanlal, the film also stars Meena, Esther Anil, and Ansiba Hassan in key roles. Drishyam 3 is backed by Aashirvad Cinemas and Panorama Studios.
