The investigation into the Air India 171 crash in Ahmedabad is still underway, with authorities unlikely to issue any interim findings as multiple agencies continue examining several aspects linked to the accident, top Ministry of Civil Aviation sources told India Today on Tuesday.

According to sources, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is working towards preparing a comprehensive final report on the crash and no interim report is expected before that process is completed.

The Air India 171 crash has remained under intense scrutiny since investigative agencies began examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sources said the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, which is leading the investigation, is still studying multiple factors connected to the crash.

“Several factors are being worked upon by the concerned investigative agencies,” top Ministry of Civil Aviation sources said.

The AAIB has not yet reached the stage where interim conclusions can be formally shared, sources added.

Officials familiar with the process said the bureau is focused on compiling a detailed final report that will include technical findings, operational analysis and conclusions drawn from the investigation.

Sources said the final report will eventually be released by the AAIB after the investigation process is completed.

Authorities are continuing to analyse evidence and other inputs linked to the crash before arriving at final conclusions.

The decision not to issue an interim report suggests investigators are still assessing key aspects of the incident and do not want to prematurely comment on possible causes before the inquiry is complete.

The Air India 171 Ahmedabad crash probe remains one of the closely watched aviation investigations currently underway in the country.
