The Supreme Court on Saturday took suo motu cognisance of the Twisha Sharma case, bringing the controversial investigation into the young woman’s death under direct judicial scrutiny amid allegations of institutional bias and procedural irregularities.
The apex court registered a suo motu case titled, “In Re Alleged Institutional Bias and Procedural Discrepancies in the Unnatural Death of Young Woman at Matrimonial Home”.
A bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant is scheduled to hear the matter on Monday.
The development marks a significant intervention by the Supreme Court in the case, which has drawn widespread attention over the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death and questions being raised over the investigation process.
