The mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, a woman from Noida who was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal, has made a series of serious allegations against her parents, claiming they had pushed her into the glamour world and financially benefited from her appearance and public image.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, retired judge Giribala Singh alleged that her late daughter-in-law’s parents “were earning out of all her looks and everything.”
“She was their source of earnings and following her death, they are trying to get the mileage and earn some more. If nothing, then this. Whatever happened is very unfortunate, but the matter is sub-judice,” she added.
Twisha, 33, was found hanging in her Bhopal home on May 12. She got married to Samarth Singh in December 2025 after meeting via a dating app in 2024.
Her family has alleged that she was murdered due to persistent dowry-related harassment.
Reiterating her version of events, Giribala Singh also claimed that Twisha had spoken about being pushed into the glamour world at a young age by her family.
“Twisha used to say that her family had thrust her into the glamour world from a very young age. There was a significant difference between her family and ours, but we still arranged the marriage,” she said.
The retired judge also raised questions about the conduct of Twisha’s father, describing his behaviour as “strange”.
“For five months, her parents never visited. We deliberately did not call her father; he had a very strange personality. For nearly 20 years, he has been working in the pharmaceutical industry—specifically in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, he could potentially be the source of many things,” she alleged.

At the same press conference, Giribala Singh had made another explosive claim that Twisha, who found out in March that she was pregnant, had consumed abortion pills despite repeated objections from the family.
“The first child is very important for any family, but she never allowed us even a moment of happiness. Samarth was in court when Twisha called him and told him that she had taken MTP pills. She took the pills on May 7,” she said and further claimed that Twisha had repeatedly insisted that she did not want a child.
As the mystery surrounding Twisha’s death has deepened, a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe allegations of dowry harassment and murder raised by her family.
The case has led to the registration of charges against Samarth Singh and judge Giribala Singh.
While a Bhopal court has granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh, the anticipatory bail plea of Samarth Singh has been rejected, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
